As the daylight continued to fade over the normally quiet French town of Le Mans, Bentley continued to reign supreme on the 8.45-mile circuit la Sarthe with the polesitting #7 Speed 8 crewed by triple Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen, Rinaldo Capello and Guy Smith leading the way.
